If you haven’t figured out already, I’m a fan of opal. I was excited to see the fruits of the recent discoveries in Ethiopia of fine quality crystal opal. This wonderful ring displays my hand-crafted gold work with one of these stones. The opportunity to hand construct a one-of-a-kind by creating a mix of 18K and 24K has always been another favorite. The organic nature of these designs lets the piece “grow”. The centerpiece of this ring is a 13x10mm (3.36ct) orange-red gem with a range of colors you have to see to believe. I always enjoy adding just a touch of diamond; in this case it’s a 0.13ct set in a white gold bezel. The ring is approximately ¾ of an inch long with an elegant flow to mold onto your hand.
